My tapestries embody my love of life, other lands and times, and the beauty of the natural world. Each piece is crafted on a mesh canvas using an extensive palette of Scottish wools, Persian silks and metallic threads as ‘paint’. The stitches are varied, creating texture and depth. My themes are sometimes contained in a single piece and at others a series. To date, my themes have ranged from delicate scenes of the far east, to vibrant details of woods and meadows, to fantasy creatures from mythological times, to images of my clients’ beloved pets and children, to my own grandchildren’s passions.
Though I grew up in South India and Sri Lanka, I have lived in such colorful American cities as New Orleans, Charleston, Boulder, Manhattan’s Upper West Side, Minneapolis, New England and now Malibu. I have been a teacher, an actress, a children’s theater director, a counselor for women with breast cancer, a grief counselor, a writer and a filmmaker. I have two grown daughters that I raised alone and I have three grandchildren!
